Baltimore Grand Prix Race ALERT!

The Baltimore Grand Prix Race activities will begin on Friday, September 2, 2011.

In view of the announced downtown access road closures and/or alternate routes and the level of planned Grand Prix activities on Friday, September 2, 2011 the Federal Executive Board recommends the following for federal agencies located in the Baltimore downtown area:

ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2011, FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES LOCATED IN THE DOWNTOWN BALTIMORE AREA WILL BE OPEN.  HOWEVER, FOR THOSE AGENCIES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE BALTIMORE GRAND PRIX RACE ACTIVITIES, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT EMPLOYEES BE PROVIDED THE OPTION OF TAKING UNSCHEDULED LEAVE OR PERFORMING TELEWORK IF ALREADY AUTHORIZED TO DO SO.  EMPLOYEES SHOULD NOTIFY THEIR SUPERVISOR OF THEIR INTENT TO USE UNSCHEDULED LEAVE OR TELEWORK.  AGENCY HEADS HAVE THE OPTION OF MODIFYING THIS RECOMMENDATION AS APPROPRIATE IF THEY FEEL THAT RACE ACTIVITIES WILL DIRECTLY AFFECT THEIR OPERATIONS.

THE WEBSITE:  http://www.gptraffic.com PROVIDES TRAFFIC AND ALTERNATE ROUTE INFORMATION AND IS UPDATED DAILY.  AGENCIES  SHOULD CONSULT THIS WEBSITE FOR ALTERNATE ROUTE INFORMATION IF THEY ARE LOCATED IN A DOWNTOWN LOCATION. THE RACE TRACK AREA ENCOMPASSES A ROAD NETWORK FROM RUSSELL STREET TO THE WEST TO CALVERT & LIGHT STREETS SOUTH TO THE EAST AND PRATT & CONWAY STREETS TO THE SOUTH.  THE GPTRAFFIC.COM WEBSITE DETAILS THE AVAILABLE ROUTES IN AND OUT OF THE CITY.  SOME ALTERNATE ROUTES WILL BE EFFECTIVE BEGINNING THE WEEK OF AUGUST 29TH.  IN ALL CASES, BALTIMORE AND LOMBARD STREETS WILL REMAIN OPEN.  CONSULT THE TRACK MAP AT THE WEBSITE BELOW.

GRAND PRIX RACE ACTIVITIES WILL CLOSE LATER ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH AND THE DOWNTOWN STREETS WILL GRADUALLY BE RE-OPENED AND READY FOR NORMAL COMMUTING  AFTER THE FEDERAL LABOR DAY HOLIDAY ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 5TH.

THE WEBSITE FOR THE BALTIMORE GRAND PRIX IS:  http://www.baltimoregrandprix.com .  THIS SITE DETAILS THE RACE EVENTS AND THE  TRACK MAP BUT DOES NOT PROVIDE TRAFFIC INFORMATION.  TRAFFIC INFORMATION IS ONLY AT:  http://www.gptraffic.com .
